Cheers to day THREE..
They always say...you always want what you can't have. Like that caramel filled chocolate bar that's sitting in a bowl in my kitchen screaming "eat me, eat me"! When in fact really, I can't. See this would all make a little more sense if you knew the reasoning behind it. I've never been one to overly watch my eating habits or run 5 miles a day (well, believe it or not I used to be able to run at least that, back in my days of cross country when this body was actually in shape hah) But in the past couple years I just kind of stop caring, or got a little too lazy or content at where I was at. Then a couple weeks ago, one of my friends asked me to join her & some others in an 8 week health challenge to get healthier. Sure, it sounded like a REALLY great way for a bunch of people to help each other out in eating better and getting more fit, but I wondered if I would actually be able to stick with it. Then they threw in that little detail of a monetary incentive for working toward your goals, and I thought, hey why not?!
Today is only day THREE. But so far, I've been pleasantly surprised at how I've been able to stick to it (not saying that it actually feels like day THIRTEEN and I really just want to rip that candy bar open and devour it). But I've found new combinations of healthy foods that I actually enjoy and are pretty fast and easy to put together. Like spinach. I feel like I may seriously turn into Popeye soon if I continue on this path..
This morning I made a simple smoothie with just a cup of milk, a cup of strawberries, and a 1/2 cup of oats, and ice. It was SO good and the oatmeal has a nice way of filling you up! I would love to hear from you guys if you have any healthy 'must try' recipes out there!
Happy, healthy Wednesday :)
