Emily // A boho inspired shoot
At the start of this year I decided to actually write out an in detail list of goals that I want to achieve this year, in different areas of my life. For me, there's something about physically writing them down in a notebook , that makes them more real to me. It gives me a feeling of accountability, and a drive to want to actually reach them (besides just thinking in your head..oh it'd be really nice if I could do this or do that...because we all know how well THAT works, ehhum.) One of my goals for this year was to get out and do more shooting...just for me. Just for fun. I'm doing this to better myself as a photographer and grow in certain areas, so that I can serve all my wonderful clients as best I can. I'm challenging myself to do this at least once a month if not more. I plan to share these images with you, so you can keep me all accountable! It was fun to play around with the light this particular sunny afternoon. It's kind of just a freeing feeling to get out there and be creative, without having to worry about meeting a specific criteria, I can shoot however I want, just for me. I wanted to shoot some images that were a little different than my norm, a little out of the box. I thought it would be fun to do a simple, boho inspired shoot and Emily was the first person I thought of! I have know her since she was just a little tot, and just took her senior pictures this last year which you may remember seeing here ...which makes me feel ancient, yikes! Emily is such an easy going, creative, and fun spirited beauty, so I knew I wanted to photograph her again. I had a little vision in mind for a floral crown, and after teaming up with Floral Designs, Ltd. of Morton, IL, they totally ran with my idea and exceeded my expectations. The crown, made solely from fresh flowers, was gorgeous! Paired with Emily's simple black dress with airy sleeves and lacy cuffs (which Emily and her mom actually added to the dress...genius), I thought everything came together better than I could have envisioned. Thank you Emily, for being my gorgeous muse for an afternoon. :)
